ABSTRACT

In this study which is addressing disabled crime victims, it is aimed to serve a view in the process of resolving the problems that they suffered. At this point, views based on restorative justice approach are underlined. In this context, the concepts of “victim” and “affected by crime” are primarily discussed. Also it is attempted to stand upon the terms of disability, victim, and disabled victim, to raise awareness to the topic. Then, disabled victims’ rights, problems and needs, how these rights are handled were given importance. Common features of the view of restorative justice approach and social work interventions in terms of has been studied. The study is concluded with proposals on how the perspection of society regarding disabled individuals should change, what should be focused in the compensation process of disabled people after they were exposed to crime and how restorative justice approach should be used in such circumstances.
