ABSTRACT

The aim of this study determine the effect of conceptual change texts to reducing students’ misconceptions in social studies. One group of poor experimental with pretestposttest design used in this study. The Study group consisted of 15th units of 4th grade students who study in connected to the city center of Yılmazkoy primary school in 2012- 2013 academic year. The criteria selection of sampling and easily accessible sampling methods was used to selected study group. Middle socio-economic level have been identified as a criterion to selection of the study group. As the data collection tool developed by researchers Word Association Test has been used in study. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze data and Break Point technique was used to analysis of which developed by Bahar (1999). As a result of study has been shown that conceptual change texts effective to reducing students’ misconceptions and misdescription.
